Day 1: Arrival to Costa Rica


Welcome to Costa Rica, the most biodiverse country in the world! Upon arrival, your driver will be waiting for you outside the airport. He will give you all the information you need for your stay in Costa Rica, and then he will take you to your hotel (approximately 20 minutes from the airport, depending on traffic).

Day 2: Tortuguero National Park

 

In the morning, a semi-private transportation service will pick you up so you can start your adventure to Tortuguero. Along the way, you will pass through the second largest national park in Costa Rica, the Braulio Carrillo National Park, where you will see small waterfalls and vegetation. About halfway through the ride, you will stop to enjoy a delicious typical Costa Rican breakfast. The trip will then continue on to the La Pavona pier where a boat will ferry you to the hotel. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a refreshing cocktail and a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, you can explore the village of Tortuguero and then return to the hotel for an exquisite dinner before you retire for the evening. During the green turtle season (from July to September), you can take an evening spawning tour (optional and not included; costs approximately $35 per person).

Day 3: Tortuguero Canals – Boat Tour


Around 6:00am, you can take an optional tour (not included) through the tropical rainforest and enjoy its natural beauty as you watch it come alive. Then, you can head back to the hotel to enjoy a delicious breakfast. At approximately 9:30am, you will go on a hike along the hotel trails, visit the butterfly garden and frog pond, and get to know the flora and fauna of the rainforest. Back at the hotel, you will have time to enjoy a nice lunch. At about 2:00pm, the boat tour will begin, taking you through the Tortuguero National Park canals (entrance of $15 per person not included). Here, you will discover some of the great biodiversity that Costa Rica has to offer. After the tour, you will return once again to the hotel where you will have free time to rest and then enjoy an exquisite dinner.

Day 4: Tortuguero National Park – Puerto Viejo, Limón


After breakfast, you will take the boat back to the pier, where you will wait for a microbus to take you to the restaurant for a buffet lunch. Once lunch is over, you will be given your 4WD rental vehicle to continue your trip to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, which is located in the province of Limón. Known for its beautiful reefs and blue and crystal waters, Puerto Viejo is the perfect place for you to discover Costa Rica’s beautiful flora and fauna. You will also have time to visit several nearby beaches, such as Cocles, Chiquita, and the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. Puerto Viejo is a quaint little town with a variety of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and shops for you to enjoy.

Day 5: Puerto Viejo de Limón

This is a free day for you to explore the area. Various activities can be arranged for you, such as a canopy tour, snorkeling, bird watching, and a visit to the Cahuita National Park. In Cahuita, you can relax on the beach and spot white-faced and howler monkeys playing in their natural habitat (optional tours not included).

Day 6: Arenal Volcano National Park


Your adventure continues onwards to La Fortuna, one of the best places to enjoy the beauty of the majestic Arenal Volcano. In the town of La Fortuna, you can enjoy various activities. The area has a lot to offer and is considered by many to be one of the most spectacular places in Costa Rica. Travel time takes approximately 5 hours (depending on traffic).

Day 7: Arenal Volcano National Park

Today is a free day. In the beautiful area of La Fortuna, you can do optional activities. For example, you can hike to Arenal Volcano National Park, visit the hot springs (one of the most popular attractions in the area) and relax in the pools with different water temperatures, or visit the hanging bridges. Your options are endless.

Day 8: Monteverde Cloud Forest

Your next destination is the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Known for its natural beauty, Monteverde is the perfect place for nature lovers. The trip takes about 3-4 hours (depending on traffic). In the afternoon, you can relax in the hotel or you can visit the village and its surroundings.

Day 9: Monteverde Cloud Forest

Take advantage of your day off to relax and unwind in the hotel or enjoy some optional activities (not included). You can visit the hanging bridges - a platform of suspended bridges and trails through the forest - or go on a canopy tour - an adrenaline-filled adventure where you will glide along cables in the middle of the tropical forest. You can also visit the snake sanctuary or butterfly garden. Monteverde is one of the most important places in Costa Rica for bird watching.

Day 10: Guanacaste, Pan de Azúcar Beach

After enjoying a tasty breakfast, prepare to visit one of the most wonderful places of the North Pacific. Playa Pan de Azúcar is a beautiful white sand beach where you can relax and enjoy beautiful sunsets. The trip takes about 3-4 hours (depending on traffic).

Days 11 & 12: Guanacaste, Playa Pan de Azúcar

Free days! For these days, we recommend you do some optional activities (not included) such as horseback riding, fishing, among others. If you prefer, you can just enjoy a relaxing walk on the beach.

Day 13: Return to San José

After your well-deserved vacation, you will return to the city of San José where you must return your rental vehicle before 4:00pm. The rest of the afternoon and evening is free for you to rest or visit the surrounding area.

A member of our team will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the airport.
